A fire that damaged an outdoor education area at Moodie’s Children’s Hours School on State Street has been ruled intentional, according to Geneva Fire Chief Del Parrotta.

Just after midnight Monday, firefighters were called to 50 State Street, where crews found several hay bales burning near the school’s outdoor pavilion and play structure. The flames had spread to the pavilion but were quickly brought under control.

Parrotta said the investigation determined there were multiple points of origin and no accidental ignition source, leading officials to classify the fire as intentionally set.

The incident remains under investigation.
