Challman Named New Director of Sodus Bay Lighthouse & Historical Society

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse & Historical Society has announced Mary Challman as its new director. In her role, Challman will oversee daily operations, collections stewardship, educational programming, fundraising, and the ongoing preservation of the historic Wayne County landmark.

Challman is a seasoned nonprofit leader with extensive experience in museum operations, volunteer coordination, public programming, and donor relations. She previously served as senior director of interpretation at Genesee Country Village and Museum in Mumford.

In her new role, she will focus on expanding interpretive experiences, growing memberships and sponsorships, enhancing archival care, and building collaborations with schools, civic groups, and regional organizations.

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse & Historical Society operates the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum, located on the bluff overlooking Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario.
