Canandaigua City Councilor Michael Mills has announced he’s running for State Senate.

Mills is one of two Democrats hoping to challenge Republican incumbent Pam Helming in the 54th District in 2026. He said his priorities include creating jobs in trades, health care, and agriculture, improving affordability for families and small businesses, and investing in infrastructure like emergency response and clean water. He also pledged to protect the Finger Lakes environment.

The district covers Ontario, Wayne, and Livingston counties, plus several Monroe County towns.
