Man Shot and Killed in Wayne County

A 61-year-old man was shot and killed this morning in Wayne County.

Shortly before 2 o’clock, the sheriff’s department responded to a home on Brookway Crescent and found James Sharpstene dead from a gunshot wound to the torso. A woman was also found inside the home and was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. No charges have been filed at this time.

Investigators believe the homicide is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office.
