UPDATE: Police Provide Update on Body Found in Geneva

Law enforcement personnel investigate an incident on a bridge in Geneva, New York, following reports of a body found.

UPDATE: Geneva Police confirmed with Finger Lakes Daily News on Friday that the discovery of a man’s body near the Routes 5&20 arterial was the result of an apparent suicide.

According to witnesses, the 33-year-old man jumped off the bridge. Police and fire responders were called to the area just before 1 on Thursday afternoon.

The identity of the man will not be released by police.

Geneva Police and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating a dead body found along the railroad tracks under Routes 5&20.  The circumstances surrounding how the body got there are still unknown.

The Geneva Fire Department and Finger Lakes Ambulance are assisting law enforcement at the scene.
