The Armitage Road Bridge over the Erie Canal in Tyre will reopen to traffic later this year.

The Finger Lakes Times reports the state Department of Transportation will reopen the one-lane, steel truss structure which has been closed since April 2022. Work originally was expected to be completed by the end of last year.

Traffic has been detoured using Route 89 and Route 318 to Gravel Road.

The bridge was built in 1914 and rebuilt in 1951.
