Woman Hit By Car While Trying to Save Dog

A 19-year-old woman was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car in Ontario County late Thursday afternoon.

Police say the unidentified woman from Manchester was trying to save a dog that was struck by a car traveling east on State Route 96 near Kyte Road when she was hit. The woman suffered injuries to her lower body.

The two drivers remained on scene and no criminal charges are expected to be filed.

Police say the dog passed away at the scene.
