NY Announces $1.2M Program to Help Nonprofits Secure Funding

New York State is investing $1.2 million to help nonprofit organizations strengthen their operations and improve their ability to compete for state and federal grants.

Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley announced the funding this week, saying the program will provide technical assistance to nonprofits that often face challenges navigating complex grant application and compliance requirements.

The funding will be administered through the New York Office of Faith and Non-Profit Development Services and will support free assistance to help organizations build capacity, improve sustainability, and expand their impact in the communities they serve.  To apply for funding,  click here

“At a time when every dollar counts to help others, the opportunity for nonprofits to improve their capacity to fight for resources needed to help communities will go a long way to help improve the lives of many New Yorkers,” Mosley said.

The program will serve approximately 200 downstate nonprofits and 160 upstate nonprofits each year. State officials said the initiative is designed to help organizations strengthen grant-writing efforts, improve fiscal compliance, manage administrative requirements, and access additional funding opportunities.

The grant program will run for three years, with funding available beginning June 9.

State officials say the assistance will help nonprofits secure resources needed to provide critical services and improve the quality of life in communities across New York.
