Retired State Trooper Joins Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office

A retired New York State Police trooper has joined the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and will serve as a school security officer in the Moravia Central School District.

Sheriff’s officials announced that Brett Stover, who recently retired after a long career with the State Police, has been hired as a special patrol officer. He will be assigned to the Moravia school district, where he will work as part of the sheriff’s office law enforcement team.

In a statement posted on social media, the sheriff’s office said Stover brings extensive law enforcement experience to the role and welcomed him to the department.

Special patrol officers are typically assigned to specific duties or locations and work under the authority of the sheriff’s office.
