Hopewell Man Accused of Burglary and Robbery at Patty’s Lodge

A Hopewell man faces multiple felony charges following an investigation into a reported domestic disturbance at Patty’s Lodge, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 53-year-old Charles Duane Williams on Friday at approximately 3:46 p.m. following an investigation at Patty’s Lodge on State Route 5 and 20.

According to investigators, Williams allegedly forced his way into a dwelling and subjected a victim to physical contact before forcibly taking a cellphone valued at approximately $100 from the victim and fleeing the scene.

Williams was charged with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony; third-degree robbery, a Class D felony; and fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E felony.

He was transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment. Williams is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident with assistance from the New York State Police.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
