On Friday, a Honeoye man already held at the Ontario County Jail faced new charges following a contraband investigation.

44-year-old Shannon Masterson was taken into custody at the jail in Hopewell at approximately 5:27 p.m. Corrections officers and investigators allegedly found Masterson in possession of a controlled substance inside his cell.

Masterson has been accused of Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Following the discovery, he appeared for centralized arraignment on the new charges and was remanded back to the custody of the Ontario County Jail.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
