Four motorcyclists from Michigan were injured Saturday afternoon in a crash on the New York State Thruway in Monroe County, according to New York State Police.

Troopers assigned to the Henrietta barracks responded to the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 in the Town of Chili shortly before 3 p.m. on June 6.

An investigation determined that 85-year-old Willie George Jones of Niagara Falls was driving a 2017 Jeep towing a boat in the right lane when he made an improper lane change. Police said the Jeep struck two motorcycles traveling in the left lanes—a 2021 Harley-Davidson and a 2018 Harley-Davidson.

The driver of the 2021 Harley, a 57-year-old man, and his 49-year-old female passenger were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the 2018 Harley, a 58-year-old man, and his 48-year-old female passenger were also taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All four injured motorcyclists are residents of Michigan.

Jones and his 78-year-old female passenger, also of Niagara Falls, were not injured in the crash.

State Police said Jones was issued multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He is scheduled to appear in Chili Town Court on July 16.

The investigation remains ongoing.
