Date Set for Initial Hearing on Owasco Lake Watershed Lawsuit

The New York Department of Health’s alleged refusal to update watershed rules for Owasco Lake has forced the city of Auburn, the town of Owasco, and the Owasco Watershed Lake Association to file a lawsuit against the state agency. The lawsuit claims the department lacked justification for its decision and abandoned its long-held stance on the need for updated regulations.  Dr. Adam Effler, with the Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council, spoke about the lawsuit on “FLX Morning”

 

Dr. Effler says the claim by the Department of Health that it no longer has jurisdiction is not true.

 

The first hearing in the lawsuit will be held in Cayuga County Court on January 2nd at 9:45 before Judge John Budelmann.  You can hear Dr. Effler’s entire interview by clicking on the media player below:
