WATCH: Dramatic Police Rescue of Man From Auburn House Fire

The Auburn Police Department has released body camera footage showing the dramatic rescue of a man trapped inside a burning home in Cayuga County on Wednesday afternoon.

The video captures Officer Paul Flickner arriving at the scene at 4 o’clock and rushing toward the smoke-filled home. According to police, Flickner found the resident trapped inside amid heavy smoke. With help from Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy Kelley and a neighbor, he was able to locate the man and pull him to safety through a first-floor window.

Both the resident and Officer Flickner were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Police say the video highlights the quick response and teamwork that helped prevent a tragedy.
