UPDATE: New York State Police have released the name of the driver killed in a crash on State Route 90 in the town of Summerhill, Cayuga County.

Troopers say 51-year-old John R. Stanford of Groton was driving a 2017 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck when he lost control around 5 p.m. on July 7. The vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and Stanford—who was not wearing a seatbelt—was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, 47-year-old Lawanda H. Eaton of Cortland, was transported to Upstate University Hospital with no apparent injuries and remains in stable condition.

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and Locke Fire Department.
