Truck Driver Airlifted Following Accident on Route 34 in Fleming

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that a truck driver was injured in a crash on State Route 34 in the Town of Fleming on Monday.

Deputies say the accident occurred around 11:14 a.m. when a truck hauling an empty box trailer veered off the west side of the roadway, entering a ditch and striking an earth embankment. The driver suffered injuries to his head and torso.

Emergency crews transported the driver to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse via Mercy Flight.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Fleming, Owasco, Auburn, and Scipio fire departments, Auburn City Ambulance, Mercy Flight, and the Cayuga County E-911 Center.
