Tour Cayuga Encouraging Residents to Shop Local this Holiday Season

A festive arrangement of a teddy bear, wrapped presents, pine boughs, and holiday spices creates a warm Christmas atmosphere.

With the holiday shopping season almost here, the Cayuga County Office of Tourism is encouraging locals and Fingerlakes residents to consider shopping local this year.

Speaking with FLX Local Media, Public Relations Manager Noah Howard said that shopping local not only supports local businesses but also means that gifts have a personal touch to them that can’t be found at Big Box Stores.

“It really does have an effect on people. It’s just so much more personal,” said Howard.

He added that shopping local for gifts allows people to share the love of their community with those they care about.

“This is where I’m from, and I want you to be part of it.”

To promote local shopping, the office is highlighting the following upcoming holiday markets and craft fairs taking place throughout the county.

Auburn

  • Prison City North Holiday Market Village — Weekends through December 20
  • CCC 50th Anniversary Holiday Craft Fair — Saturday & Sunday, December 6-7
