Three duck hunters were rescued from an island near Frontenac Park in Union Springs on Tuesday after their boat’s engine failed, leaving them stranded in frigid waters about 500 feet from shore.

Union Springs and Aurelius firefighters used a boat to deliver a jump kit, enabling the men to restart their engine and return safely.

Emergency services from Fleming Fire Department, Cayuga County, and Auburn City Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
