Swatting Incident At Congressman’s Home on Christmas Day

Congressman Brandon Williams was the victim of a “swatting” incident on Christmas Day.

The Citizen reports the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police responded to a report of a shooting yesterday afternoon at Williams’ home in Sennett. The call was made to the Cayuga County E-911 Center.

Police confirmed the incident to be false.

Police say the report was made to solicit an immediate response from law enforcement, a crime known as “swatting.”
