A cornhole tournament this weekend will help raise money to improve surgery capabilities at the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York.

Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Executive Director Nick Lapresi said the money raised will go toward purchasing a new surgery table to replace their outdated one.

“Right now, we’re performing surgery on a wooden table,” said Lapresi. “I think we can all agree that’s not sufficient. So, with those new renovations that are coming, we don’t have any of the actual surgery equipment to perform surgeries so all proceeds from this event are going to the purchase of a new state-of-the-art surgery table.”

Sponsored by Auburn Party Rental, registration to compete in the tournament is $30 with the first-place team winning $100. Registration can be done either online or by calling 315-253-5841.

Mooney’s Food Truck will be on hand to provide food for attendees with all profits going to the SPCA. There will also be lawn games, a 50/50 raffle, and basket raffles.

“Come on out have a slice of pizza, and have a good time,” continued Lapresi.

The event will run from 11:00a-2:00p at the SPCA in Auburn with the tournament beginning at noon.
