Overdoses Continue to Decline in Cayuga County

Overdoses continue to decline in Cayuga County.

According to the county’s overdose data dashboard, October saw ten suspected overdoses, none of which were fatal. 80% of those occurred in Auburn and 10% are believed to have involved opioids.

Not only is this down from September of 2023 which saw 14 overdoses, but it is also down from October of 2022 which also saw 14 overdoses, four of which were fatal.

In total, 2023 has seen 132 suspected overdoses reported in the county so far with only four being fatal; that’s down from last year which saw 201 reported by October, including 11 fatal overdoses.
