In less than a year, Jennifer Haines will officially take over as Auburn City Manager, the first woman to ever hold the position. City Council approved her at last Thursday night’s meeting.

On Finger Lakes News Radio’s “FLX Morning News,” the long-time city employee was asked if she had set any goals for herself for her new position.

“I’d like to work through some strategic planning with the Council so that we as the staff understand their priorities and the direction they want to go in,” said Haines. “We already have some excellent things moving forward and were going keep moving forward on those things, whether it capital projects or different initiatives or partnerships that we are working on.”

Haines has been a city employee for 31 years and is currently its Director of Planning and Economic Development.  On January 1st, she will become Assistant City Manager and officially take over as manager Jeff Dygertm, who is retiring on July 1st.
