One local school district is hosting a community forum before the potential acquisition of land.

The Moravia Central School District will hold the forum on January 8 at 6:00p at the Junior/Senior School cafeteria. Attendees can share their thoughts on the proposed purchase before a districtwide vote on the purchased scheduled for January 14.

The district intends to spend $175,000 to purchase eight acres of property at 52 S Main Street. The property is located between the elementary and junior/senior high schools.

The district has yet to formally announce how it intends to use the property if purchased. According to the resolution passed by the school board on November 13 allowing the vote, the district will purchase the property “for possible use for one or more purposes permitted under New York Education Law.”

The vote will take place on January 14 from 12:00-9:00p at the north side foyer of the junior/senior high school.
