An Auburn area tradition returns this Sunday to Emerson Park.

Back for its 47th year, the Great Race will see one, two, three, and four-person teams compete in a three-leg relay consisting of a four-mile run, a 12.4-mile bike ride, and a 2.5-mile paddle on Owasco Lake.

Following the race, there will be a celebration on Deauville Island with music, food, and beverage vendors.

Race registration ends Friday.

Race organizers are still seeking volunteers to help ensure the race runs smoothly. Volunteers can assist with filling race packets for teams to pick up, boat course guides, working the exchange zone, and assisting at the finish line. Those interested in volunteering are asked to call 315-252-7139 or message race organizers on Facebook.
