Three Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants have been awarded in Cayuga County.

The grants, according to FEMA, are designed to help fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations meet their firefighting and emergency response needs.

The Village of Cayuga was awarded $61,904; the Owasco Fire Department was awarded $27,809, and the Scipio Volunteer Fire Company was awarded $18,095. Each award, dated September 24, 2025, was given through the Operations and Safety program.

In total, FEMA says 1,678 AFG grants, totalling $291.6 million, have been made as part of the FY 2024 Firefighters Grants program.
