An expansion to the Emerson Park Rain Garden will take place later this month.

A partnership between the Owasco Watershed Lake Association, the Owasco Lake Management Council, and Cayuga County Parks and Trails, volunteers are needed for the project to plant new flora, transplant native plants, and clean the existing part of the garden.

Established in October of 2021, the rain garden captures runoff and reduces sediment and nutrient pollution in Owasco Lake.

The project, part of Lake Friendly Living May Awareness Month, will take place on the 20th from 10:00a-2:00p.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the garden near the park pavilion and break wall and bring their own gloves, shovels, and weather appropriate clothing.
