In conjunction with National Health Center Week, East Hill Medical in Auburn is once again collecting food for local food pantries.

East Hill Grants Coordinator Tricia Kerr told FInger Lakes News Radio that the drive recognizes the important role that healthy food and healthy eating play in one’s overall health while also acknowledging that many in the community are food insecure or lack access to healthy food.

She added that, while they won’t turn donations away, the center is specifically searching for nonperishable and easy-to-cook items.

“We try to select items that don’t require a lot of cooking or can be a whole meal without cooking, so nut butters are great, and whole wheat bread, beans, just healthier food for people although we will accept any donations,” said Kerr.

Food can be dropped off throughout the city now through Monday at the following locations:

  • East Hill Medical Center -144 Genesee St.
  • Duckett Family Medicine – 13 N. Fulton St.
  • Summit Pediatrics – 13 N. Fulton St.
  • Memorial City Hall – 24 South St.
  • Auburn YMCA – 27 William St.
  • Seymour Library 176 Genesee St.
  • Cayuga County Jail – 7445 County House Rd.
  • Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce – 2 State St.
  • Lyons National Bank 63 Genesee Street & 311 Grant Avenue
  • Tompkins Community Bank 86 North Street

As part of National Health Center Week, East Hill is also having a community art contest.
