Plans for a new public art installation in downtown Auburn are moving forward.

The Auburn Public Arts Commission voted for the design earlier this month created by Unite Two Design of Elbridge to be installed at the corner of South and Genesee Streets. Jesse Kline with the BID says installations like this help the city stand out.

“[Art installations] are a draw in making us a destination and what makes us unique,” Kline told Finger Lakes News Radio. “They also support the creatives and artists in our community ’cause [for] all of these project we’re working with local artists.”

The money for the project comes from Auburn’s DRI funding.

Fabrication of the work will take place during the Fall and Winter and the installation is expected to take place in Spring of 2024.
