Stephanie DeVito, who began representing Cayuga County’s 10th District in 2023, has resigned from the Legislature after accepting a job outside the district that will require her to relocate.
DeVito, a Democrat from Auburn and office manager at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse, had previously stepped back from committee duties in February due to work commitments. Her departure leaves the 11-member Legislature with 10 members.
A special election is expected later this year to fill the seat, which has over two and a half years remaining in its term. The Citizen reports that an interim appointment is also an option.
