November saw 12 suspected overdoses in Cayuga County.

That number, which is up one from last month, comes from the county’s overdose dashboard which also shows all 12 happened within Auburn. Zero were fatal. 16.7% of the overdoses are believed to have involved opioids and 8.3% saw Narcan administered.

With one month left in the year, 2023 has seen 149 overdoses with four being fatal. In 2022, 212 overdoses were reported between January and November with 12 being fatal.

2023 is on track to see the fewest reported overdoses in the county since 2020. That year saw 208 suspected overdoses while 2021 and 2022 saw 278 and 227 overdoses respectively. This also means that, if trends hold, 2023 would be the first year on the dashboard’s record to see under 200 overdoses within the county.
