A Cayuga County native is among the victims of Hurricane Milton in Florida and her family is seeking help to bring her body back to New York.

A GoFundMe launched by Peyton Kennedy seeks to raise $10,000 to bring the body of her aunt, Debbie Kennedy, back to New York so she can be buried next to her late husband, Jeff Kennedy.

In the post, Kennedy wrote “Debbie Kennedy was the heart of our family—an incredible mother, grandmother, and friend who always put others before herself. She leaves behind children, and grandkids who are now facing an unimaginable loss.”

Kennedy moved from New York to Fort Pierce, Florida seven months ago.

Those wishing to donate can do so here.

Over a dozen people have been killed as a result of the Category 3 storm that hit the Sunshine State Wednesday night.
