A member of the Auburn Planning Board now has a seat on the Cayuga County Legislature.

Amy Sargent of Auburn was appointed Thursday night to represent District 10, replacing Stephanie DeVito, who resigned in April. A lifelong Cayuga County resident, Sargent is the senior director of operations at Liberty Resources, a health care nonprofit.

Sargeant’s appointment will expire at the end of the year, with a special election for the remainder of DeVito’s term to be held in November.

DeVito began representing the 10th District in 2023. She resigned in April from the Legislature after accepting a job outside the district that will require her to relocate.
