Cayuga County Clerk Brian Scanlan has resigned.

According to Legislature Chair Johnathan Anna, he and the governor’s office received notice on Tuesday that Scanlan was resigning from the position effective immediately.

Anna went on to thank Scanlan for his service to the county during his time as clerk and let the public know that the county clerk’s office will remain open while the county discusses an interim plan for the administration of the office “until such time as the Governor appoints a temporary Clerk.”

Scanlan was elected county clerk in November 2023.
