The Cayuga Museum of History & Art, A&M Graphics, and Arthur the Artist in Auburn are hosting a design reveal event for the city’s newest downtown mural, “Theodore Case: The Magic of Sound & Light.”
The event will take place this evening from 6 to 8 at the Carriage House Theater, the historic site where the first sound films were produced. Attendees will get a first look at the mural design, which will become Auburn’s largest public mural once completed.
The mural project has currently raised just over $11,000 of its $90,000 goal. Admission to the reveal event is limited to donors who contribute $100 or more. More information or contributions can be made at cayugamuseum.org/case-mural.
The mural celebrates Theodore (Ted) Case, a member of one of Auburn’s prominent families and a pioneering inventor in early sound film technology. Case combined his scientific curiosity with resources from the region to transform a greenhouse at his Genesee Street home into a leading research center of the early 20th century, achieving results comparable to large city laboratories.
The project brings together Arthur the Artist, A&M Graphics, and the Cayuga Museum and Case Research Lab to create a vibrant, detailed mural honoring Case, his team, and his family’s contributions to science and the Auburn community.
