Auburn’s next police chief will assume the office this week.

Matthew Androsko will take over the role of chief from James Slayton on Tuesday. Speaking on FLX Morning, City Clerk said city staff are looking forward to working with Androsko in his new capacity as chief.

“He’s been with the Auburn Police Department for 17 years. He has a lot of good attitude and good energy he’s bringing to the job… We wish him well and look forward to him joining the management team here in the City of Auburn.”

Androsko joined the Auburn Police Department in 2007. In 2017, he was promoted to sergeant and, in 2020, received the rank of lieutenant. Three years later he was promoted to captain.

On January 3, City Manager Jeff Dygert announced that Androsko would succeed Slayton as Auburn Police Chief.

Slayton began his law enforcement career in 1998 and joined the Auburn Police Department in 2001.
