Auburn Police Release Name of Pedestrian Killed in January Crash

Auburn Police have released the name of the woman killed after being struck by a motor vehicle earlier this year.

On January 10, at around 1:30p, police responded to the intersection of North and Lansing Streets for the report of a vehicle/pedestrian collision. The pedestrian, whom police have now identified as 67-year-old Cynthia Stockwell, was taken to Auburn Community Hospital, where she later died.

Following an investigation into the incident, the driver, 31-year-old Christopher Dewiit, was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, and multiple traffic infractions. He has since been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony, following the results of a toxicology report.

Police add that no further information will be released at this time.
