An Auburn man faces up to 15 years in prison after admitting in Cayuga County Court to intentionally trying to cause serious injury to a woman when he poured nail polish remover on her and used a lighter to set her on fire. Mathew Mosher pleaded guilty Friday to attempted assault as a Class C Violent Felony.
The victim of the July 2024 incident suffered burns on her leg.
The 51-year-old Mosher also pleaded guilty in court to a separate felony charge of aggravated family offense involving a separate incident and victim.
When sentenced in July, Mosher faces a maximum of 15 years in state prison for the violent felony and two-to-four years for the Aggravated Family Offense conviction.
According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, this case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Courtney Venditte.
