With winter weather here to stay, the Auburn Fire Department is reminding residents who live near fire hydrants to keep them clear.

Residents should remove any snow or ice from the hydrant, clear a three-foot path around it, and keep a path clear from the hydrant to the street.

The department adds that, in an emergency, every second counts so keeping hydrants accessible is crucial in keeping the community safe.
