APD Releases 2024 Stats: Crime Down in City

The Auburn Police Department has released its annual report for 2024.

In the report, the department claims 2024 saw an overall decrease in crime with a 3% decrease in calls for service. 2024 also saw a 64% decrease in burglaries, a 46% decrease in robberies, and a 13% decrease in assaults.

Also included in the report was a farewell message from former chief Jim Slayton who retired in January after 27 years with the Auburn Police Department. In his message, he said, “It has truly been an honor to serve the citizens of the City of Auburn.”

The report also discussed how the well the department was able to mee its yearly goals as well as outlining its goals and objectives for 2025.
