As people get ready to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, Cayagu County Sheriff Brian Schenck is reminding motorists to celebrate the holiday responsibly.

Speaking on FLX Morning, the sheriff urged residents to have a plan to get home if they plan to consume alcohol.

“I urge you to celebrate responsibly. Have a plan. If you’re going to drink, make sure you have a ride. We don’t want to see you in a traffic stop. If you’re drinking and partying, just have a plan.”

State and local law enforcement increase patrols and checkpoints annually to combat drunk and distracted driving, as well as speeding over the holiday weekend.
