An abandoned motorhome that created a social media buzz in May is up for sale.

In May, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office posted pictures of an RV abandoned on State Route 34/North Street in Sennett on social media, seeking help locating the owner. Responses ranged from claiming it was Cousin Eddy’s from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Walter White from Breaking Bad to Cheech and Chong.

Now, the sheriff’s office has announced the motorhome is up for auction.

The office added that the RV could make for the perfect Christmas gift, and the office said it will even throw in a set of Christmas lights. While it has an International V8 engine, the office said it doesn’t know if it will run; “we don’t know, as we are cops, not mechanics,” they wrote.

Even if it doesn’t run, the sheriff’s office suggests it could be used as a mobile office, guest house, or children’s playhouse. They suggest that any prospective buyers check their local zoning laws and regulations first.

Bidding ends December 22 and can be done here. If the RV can’t be sold, the office will have to scrap it.
