The Finger Lakes Daily News 5-day forecast for June 9-13, 2026, shows high temperatures, rain, and thunderstorms across the region.

I’m watching this heat build faster than some models suggested this morning — we’re already at 84° in Geneva at noon, and the day isn’t done yet. The morning forecast had us pegged for the upper 80s to near 90°, and we’re tracking right on that edge. No real surprises, but it’s worth noting that Canandaigua is running especially warm at 85° with humidity dropping to 45% — that lower relative humidity is making it feel more comfortable than the numbers suggest.

No NWS alerts are in effect, and none are expected today. Skies remain clear across the board, with a steady southerly breeze around 9 to 11 mph keeping air moving.

This afternoon, highs push to 90° or 91° near Canandaigua and Geneva, with the southern-tier towns like Corning and Elmira topping out a few degrees cooler in the mid-to-upper 80s. The south wind stays in place through sunset at 8:45 PM, and overnight lows settle into the low 60s — not particularly comfortable for sleeping, but manageable.

The bigger story is what’s building later in the week. Wednesday brings the first scattered showers and thunderstorms back into the picture, with rain chances rising sharply Thursday into Friday as a moist, warm airmass deepens over the region. The NWS Buffalo office is flagging potential heat index values in the lower to mid 90s Thursday and Friday — the combination of high temperatures and rising humidity could trigger heat advisories for parts of the region, though confidence isn’t high yet given the chance for cloud cover and afternoon storms to knock temperatures down. Stay tuned.
