Join an Audubon Environmental Educator on Saturday, May 18, from 7 AM – 10 AM, for a guided, 3 mile walk on the trails of the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve (1712 Black Brook Road Seneca Falls, NY 13148). Explore habitats that attract hundreds of waterfowl and songbirds during their annual northward migration to their breeding grounds. Additionally, participants will see the newest Bald Eagle nest, possibly with a young eagle, and will learn about how to identify our migrating birds, learn about the Bald Eagle, the importance of wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, and the restoration of these habitats.  This is a free event.

Space is limited and even though there is no charge, registration is required. Click https://act.audubon.org/a/ny-2024-bird-walk-smwp-518 to register.

This program is sponsored by Seneca Meadows, Inc.

The Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve has been set aside as a 576-acre wetland, grassland, and woodland area with 7 miles of trails.  When it was created, mitigation efforts by Seneca Meadows Inc. planted only native plants, removed, and continue to remove invasive species, added six ponds, and formed the three habitats. In a partnership with the Montezuma Audubon Center and Audubon NY, we offer hands-on, experience-based learning that community members and organizations can participate in that help restore its value as an Important Bird Area.
