CANANDAIGUA – Thompson Health Physical Therapist Parker Drumm will give a free presentation called “Falls Prevention: Prepare to Prevent” on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Sands Family YMCA, 351 North St. in Canandaigua.
The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Y’s Community Room and participants will:
• Understand how social isolation occurs due to the fear of falling
• Review the role of medical providers in assessing the risk for falls
• Understand the physical therapist’s role in addressing risks for falls
• Apply learned information to patients’ stories to determine the appropriate course of action
Drumm is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists in neurologic physical therapy and separately in geriatric physical therapy. He has worked at Thompson for over a decade and has been an adjunct professor in the Nazareth University Neuromuscular Clinic for eight years.
