The historic play drama, “Clinton’s Ditch: The Story of Building of the Erie Canal” sponsored by the Old Mentz Heritage Center will be performed to honor this year’s 2025 Erie Canal Bicentennial. The play narrates the Canal’s creation from its original vision to its completion in 1825 under the leadership of NYS Governor Dewitt Clinton. It will commemorate the Canal’s profound impact across New York State and engage audiences in celebrating our shared local heritage. Five performances will be held at the Canal Society of New York State’s Samuel Center for Canal History, 38 Rochester Street, Port Byron: Friday, June 21 at 2 PM and 7 PM; Friday, June 27 at 7 PM; and Saturday, June 28 at 2 PM and 7 PM.
