Lesley Bannatyne’s novel-in-stories, Lake Song, will have its Finger Lakes launch at the Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan at 3:00pm on September 25. [145 Rt. 54 E Lake Road, Penn Yan]. Bannatyne will be in conversation with Bethany Taylor of the magazine Bluff and Vine. The reading/discussion is free and open to the public, and a reception follows.
Lake Song draws on the author’s lifelong love for the Finger lakes. Against a backdrop of historical events unique to the region, spiritualists, grifters, farmers, sugar makers, seekers, and saleswomen wind through each other’s lives in a generations-long mystery. The novel received the 2024 Grace Paley Prize for short fiction and is published by Mad Creek Books.
