At 70 follows three second-wave feminists moving into the final stages of their lives. Joan and Mahoney grew up together in the Rochester area and navigated the various threads of career, romance, family, education, religion, politics, and self-expression together through almost seven decades. Angela moved around the United States her entire life, but believes her most formative moments were at the small Catholic high school where she met Joan and Mahoney as a teenager. Now, recently widowed and in what appears to be the early stages of Alzheimer’s, Angela returns to Rochester to reunite with the friends closest to her heart. Through the course of the play, the three women must learn what it means to test the bonds that held them together in the past, and to face together an always uncertain future.
